Jackie Webb

Jackie makes utility pottery–mugs, wine cups, bowls, casserole dishes, tortilla warmers, pie plates, pitchers and tumblers. She also makes some really good goat milk soap.

Jackie’s work is sold at Possibilities in Fort Davis (the rock shop across from Stone Village) and in Alpine at Vintage Antiques and Snazzy Things on Holland Street.

Terry Biegler

Formerly a graphic designer, Terry Biegler has turned her attention to fine art since moving to the mountains. Although she continues to try various mediums, stained glass and glass mosaics are her favorites. She also creates wire-wrapped art and jewelry using gems, minerals, fossils and glass objects in her designs. Photography, digital art and acrylic painting also keep her busy. Formerly from Fort Worth, Terry and her husband, Jim, escaped to Fort Davis, Texas, in September 2004. Her inspiration comes from music, nature and the creative spirit of other artists.

Marjie Erkkila – Jeweler, Photographer, Sculptor

At the start of Marjie’s art career, she won ‘First Place- Sculpture” for two consecutive years at the Massachusetts Equine Expo. In addition, she was awarded ‘First Place – Sculpture’ at the historic art colony of Rockport, MA. In 1997, after an international competition, Marjie’s stone sculpture, ‘ADAGIO’ was one of twelve pieces accepted in to the prestigious exhibit ‘Horses in Motion’ sponsored by the Kentucky Derby Museum and Equine Images magazine. Her jewelry has won ‘First Place-Wearable Art’ for many years at the Western States Horse Expo in Sacramento . In Alpine, TX, Marjie was invited into the most prestigious show of western gear and gear where she showed her horse themed jewelry. Living in the peaceful DMR in her home studio allows Marjie to be close to Nature and to create her unique pieces. She is represented in Alpine, TX by Catchlight Art Gallery at 117 West Holland (432-837-9422) and she has a jewelry display at the Fort Davis Rock Shop on the main drag in town. Marjie’s horse, dog and cat supervise all the pieces that she loves to make! Her photography has been published in internationally distributed magazines, advertisements and posters! Sam Pellegrin

I primarily do colored pencil drawings and one-of-a-kind beaded jewelry. My original colored pencil drawings are available at the Old Spanish Trail Gallery in Crows Nest. Fine art prints of my drawings are available at Javelinas & Hollyhocks in Fort Davis, and at the Quarter Circle 7 hotel next door to the Spicewood Restaurant in Alpine. My beaded jewelry and note cards of my colored pencil drawings are available at BeaTK Gift Shop in Fort Davis.

James Olsen – Artist, Naturalist and Amateur Astronomer

Born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1940. I became interested in wildlife from my dad, Harry F. Olsen, who was interested in entomology, archeology and fossils. We spent many hours and walked many miles all over the state of Missouri. In 1970 I was inspired by David Shepherd, a British artist most famous for his African wildlife and Louis Asassiz Fuertes, a bid artist from Ithaca, New York. I moved to the Davis Mountains from Lonedell, Missouri. This area of Texas is filled with inspiration and has given me a greater understanding and appreciation of art, astronomy and conservation. I work mainly with acrylics but also pencil and ink drawings.I believe we need to preserve nature not only for ourselves but for the future of our children.

Brenda Hudson

I’ve had a pencil in my hand as long as I could hold one. Graduated to a ten-pad tin of watercolors as soon after Crayola’s as I could. Art was a compulsion to me, like planting things. As I got better, mostly through simple observation but with a little help from my friends, and people began to buy my work. My formal training is through Southern Methodist University and Stephen F. Austin university.

I started in oils, back in the days when they were smelly, and had to drop them when my bronchial tubes were damaged. I started using acrylics, then pastels. This country, out here, calls for pastels. Maybe it is a dust to dust thing.

Now I’m having to change my style due to my hands deciding to keep a beat only they can hear, whole lotta shaking going on.

Donna Dittmann

Fine and graphic artist, digital design, technical drawing, and photography with primary focus: wildlife, and especially birds. Art substrates range from various papers, fabrics, to even rocks. Prefer working in mixed media: acrylic and watercolor paints and pencil. Sales primarily via commissions however a vendor at DMHC 2017, 2018, and 2019. Won 1st Place in 2017 and 2018 at the DMHC Fort Davis Library Art Show. Also website design (e.g., www.yellowrailsandrice.com), newsletter, poster, and brochure layout. Jan VanLiere

“I am a naturalist at heart. I enjoy finding the magic, and mystery in the ordinary. From old dead trees, from insects, from the food we eat, even from the nuances of behavior, there is beauty and wonder and mystery all around. These are the inspiration for my paintings and sculptures.” I am not in any galleries out there yet, though I am a member of Big Bend Arts Alliance. Maria LeJeune

Maria LeJeune Lives in the Davis Mountains Resort (DMR) and makes jewelry with natural minerals . She also does pastel art work of the area. Her pendants and paintings are displayed at the Fort Davis Rock Shop. Necklaces created by Maria can be seen at the GOTS Gallery in Alpine. She maintains a few items at home for viewing. Willis LeJeune

Willis LeJeune has beautiful wood art that graces the homes of many people, even Internationally. His work is featured at the GOTS Gallery in Alpine. Willis also has pieces at his home workshop. All are in their natural shape and Willis works to show wood’s beauty. Call him at 432-426-3024.
